Marbocyl P is a third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic for dogs containing marbofloxacin — a synthetic broad-spectrum bactericidal agent that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, disrupting DNA replication and causing bacterial cell death. With over 94% oral bioavailability, it is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The beige brown spotted round tablet is scored for easy division into two equal halves. For dogs only — do not use the 20 mg tablet in cats. For cats, use Marbocyl P 5 mg. Prescription only — for use under veterinary supervision.
How to Use
Administer orally at 2 mg/kg body weight once daily — 1 tablet per 10 kg. Skin and soft tissue infections: 5–7 days, up to 40 days for chronic conditions. Urinary tract infections: 10–28 days. Respiratory infections: 5–7 days. May be given with or without food. Do not use in small or medium breeds under 12 months or large breeds under 18 months. Do not use with products containing aluminium, magnesium, or calcium as they may reduce absorption. Prescription only.
