DECHRA Vetoryl 10 mg 10 Capsules

A veterinary prescription medication developed by Dechra and FDA-approved for the treatment of Cushing's disease (hyperadrenocorticism) in dogs. Vetoryl is the only FDA-approved treatment for both pituitary-dependent and adrenal-dependent Cushing's disease, making it the gold standard medical option for managing this condition. It does not cure Cushing's disease but controls its signs, helping dogs regain vitality and a better quality of life. Each pack contains 10 capsules of 10 mg trilostane.

Composition Active ingredient: Trilostane 10 mg per capsule. Available as an oral hard capsule. Do not open, split, or divide the capsules.

Dosage & Administration Give orally once daily with food, preferably in the morning, as food enhances absorption. The starting dose is typically 2.2–6.7 mg per kg of body weight per day, though many veterinarians begin at a lower dose and adjust based on response. If symptoms are not adequately controlled over a full 24-hour period, twice-daily dosing may be considered by the veterinarian. Never change the dose or stop treatment without veterinary guidance. Monitoring with cortisol testing is recommended at 10–14 days and 30 days after starting, then every 3 months once controlled. Store at room temperature in a tightly closed, light-resistant container.

Benefits

  • The only FDA-approved treatment for both pituitary-dependent and adrenal-dependent Cushing's disease in dogs
  • Reversibly controls excess cortisol production by the adrenal glands
  • Helps reduce classic Cushing's signs including excessive thirst, urination, hunger, pot-bellied appearance, and hair loss
  • Fewer and less severe side effects compared to mitotane, the historically used alternative
  • Starts working within 1–2 days, with observable improvement typically seen within a few weeks
  • Multiple capsule sizes available to allow precise, weight-based dosing

Do not use in dogs with primary liver disease, kidney insufficiency, or in pregnant dogs. Do not use alongside potassium-sparing diuretics such as spironolactone. If signs of illness such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, or weakness develop, stop treatment immediately and contact a veterinarian as cortisol levels may have dropped too low. Veterinary prescription and regular monitoring required.
