Histacure is an injectable antihistamine solution containing diphenhydramine hydrochloride. Diphenhydramine inhibits histamine at H1 receptors and also has substantial sedative, anticholinergic, antitussive, and antiemetic effects. Its sedative effect makes it useful for treating agitation and itching (pruritis) associated with allergic responses. Also used as an adjunctive treatment for aseptic laminitis in cattle, and for the treatment and prevention of motion sickness as an antiemetic in small animals. Prescription only — for use under veterinary supervision.
How to Use
Administer by intravenous or intramuscular injection. Horses: 1.25–5 ml per 100 kg body weight. Cattle: 2.5–5 ml per 100 kg body weight. Dogs and Cats: 0.5–1 ml per 5 kg body weight every 12 hours by intramuscular injection. Do not use in animals hypersensitive to diphenhydramine or other antihistamines in its class. Withdrawal time: 10 days for meat, 36 hours for milk. Prescription only.
